Get Married !

Agastya's Pov

Dadi walked inside her room. She went straight towards her big armchair and sat down.

Then she looked at me and gestured towards the chair in front of her.

The look on her face already told me she was about to bombard me with something that wouldn't let me sleep tonight.

Yet I quietly sat down because what else could I do?

She was Dadi the head of the Rathore Family .

Whatever she wanted to discuss at two in the morning, I already knew I couldn't ignore it.

She looked at me for a few seconds.

Then she finally spoke.

"Dekho lalla..ab baat kuch aisi hai ki samay aa gaya hai ki tum shadi biyaah kar ke ghar basa lyo..!"

(Look son now it's high time that you get married and settle down)

I stared at her.

Of course.

Marriage. My marriage. What else could be the 'charcha ka vishay' at 2 am

"Kyun daadi ? Aakhir is ghar me har cheej humari shadi se shuru hokar humari shadi par hi kaahe khatam hoti hai?"
(Why daadi? Why everybody is so hell bent in getting me married)

I said annoyingly because atp i was fucking done with shadi byah and barat.

But she , She didn't even blink. Because she knew her blood. And then she gave the lamest excuse--

Lalla, kaahe ki ab humka apna ek pota ya poti chahi.

(Because the Rathore family needs a heir now..)

Oh wow dadi, now what? What I'm supposed to do now? An heir okay !

Crax ke packet me mil jayega aapko apna varis? Ya kinderjoy lena padega?

I leaned back.

"Aur aapka ye pota poti sirf hum hi de skate hai? Abhimanyu ki shadi kyu nahi karwa deti aap?

(And this heir can only come from me? Why don't you get Abhimanyu married?")

Dadi's expression didn't change.

"Lalla..tum na ab tees baras ke ho gaye ho..Abhimanyu sirf 25 ka hai..to shadi ka umar tumhara hai uka naahi"

(Agastya, you're thirty now. Abhimanyu is only twenty-five. You're at the age to get married, not him.")

I sighed.

"Dadi, shaadi to hum karne nahi wale hai bata de rahe hai aapko"

("Dadi, I'm not getting married anytime soon.")

And with that, I got up.

I had barely taken a few steps when her voice stopped me.

"Lalla suno tanik..tum bada prem karte ho na..apne ye Rathore Empire se?"

(You love the Rathore Empire, don't you?")

I stopped. Now she talking about something I'm genuinely interested in.

"Tumhara rutba..tumhayi jagah..tumhari kursi aur ye tumhara audha?"

(Your position. Your chair. Your title.)

I slowly turned around and looked at her.

She was sitting there calmly.

Too calmly.

"To lalla dekho baat seedhi saaf ye hai ki agar tum agle ek mahine me bina koi teen paanch kare shadi nahi karte ho to hum sab kuch Abhimanyu aur Rivansh ko de denge..phir udaate rehna makkhiyan"

(If you don't get married within the next one month, we'll hand the empire over to Abhimanyu and Rivansh .)

She paused.

"Aur ha lalla sirf itna hi naahi...balki tumko khandan se bedakhal bhi kar denge"

(And you'll be disowned from the Rathore family.)

I stared at her.

And then...

I laughed.

"Aree dada..hum to dar gaye..waise daadi..aapko wakai lagta ki aapke ye dono pote sambhal lenge Rathore khandan ki virasat?"

(Oh damnn and Dadi, you really think these people will be able to handle the Rathore Empire?)

I took a step towards her.

Really that little monster brother of mine ?

Dadi thinks he can manage the Rathore Empire?

No doubt my younger brother Abhimanyu is the best cardiologist in India and Rivansh is studying in one of the best b-schools on India ...but Rathore Empire?
That's something too big for them!

Aaye din apni g@and tudwane ke naye tareeke ka aawishkar karne wale mere bhai rathore khandan sambhalenge?

"How funny, Dadi ji."

I shook my head.

"Aapka chaheeta Rivansh aaye din phone karta rehta hai jab college me kand karte hai..aur Abhimanyu..usne to ghar aana hi chod diya hai..kyunki yahan aap sab apni drama company jo khole rehte hai..aur aap ko lagta hai wo sambhalenge ye sab?"

(Rivansh calls me whenever he has problems with college or his internship, Abhimanyu? He skips coming home because of the nuisance you people run here and you think they'll handle the Rathore Empire)

I was amused at her confidence but i knew my brothers more then anything in this world

"Ayee ayee badkaa baabu?..tum kehna kaa chaah rahe ho? ki humare Abhimanyu aur Rivansh kaabil nahi hai?"Dadi's eyes narrowed.

Ha apne chaheeton ke khilaaf kaha hi sun lengi ye

(So what are you trying to say? That Abhimanyu and Rivansh aren't capable of handling our empire?)

I looked at her. Playing with words? That was something my family loves to do .

"Humne aisa to nahi kaha?"

(I never said that.)

she could not trap me now.

Inko lagta hai shabdon se khelna bas yehi to seekhi hai..hum to school bunk karke gaanja fookne jaaya karte the..

I took a pause then looked her straight into her eyes and said-

"Daadi achaa sach batao..aapko sahi me lagta hai ki abhimanyu sab utne tip top tareeke se manage kar lega jaise hum karte hai?"

(Do you really think Abhi can really manage everything as smoothly as I do?)

I looked towards the door for a second.

"Our name. Our business. Our empire."

My eyes returned to hers.

"The way the Rathore Empire is touching new heights every single day... do you really think Abhi can take it there?"

Dadi didn't even hesitate.

"Ha bilkul kar sakta hai wo"

(Yes. He can.)

She leaned back.

"Sab kuch dheere dheere sahi ho hi jaata hai..aur ho hi jayega"

(Everything will fall into place eventually.)

I laughed.

"Dadi...Galatfehmiyan achi hoti hai"

(Dadi, misconceptions are good.)

I looked straight into her eyes.

"Par itni bhi achi nahi hoti..agar aapko nahi pata to bata du..hum RANA AGASTYA SINGH RATHORE hai..aur I'm the best in everthing I do..to mere bhai kitne bhi kabil ho jaaye dono hi meri barbari nahi kar payenge jab baat rathore ivrasat ki aayegi"

(But not this good.If you don't know it then lemme tell you I AM THE AGASTYA SINGH RATHORE ...And I'm the best at everything I do. So no matter how capable my brothers are, neither of them can match me when it comes to the Rathore Empire .)

Silence.

"Aapko lagta hoga hume jarurat hai aapke is rathore khaandan ki virasat ki"

(You might think I need the Rathore Empire)

It was time to give the prettiest lady a reality check .

"Han hai jarurat"

(Yes. I do.)

I took another step towards the door.

"Par mujhse jyada jarurat aapki virasat ko meri hai"

(But the Rathore Empire needs me more)

I turned towards the door.

"To dubara humko kauno prakar ki dhami dekar apna hi pair par kulhadi marne ke baare me mat sochiyega"

(So don't threaten to disown me again and end up cutting off your own nose to spite your face.)

And with that, I walked away.I knew nobody in this entire family knew the business better than I did. . And there was no fucking chance that anyone can match me.

I opened the door. I had barely stepped outside when Dadi spoke again.

"Han hai jarurat tumhari humayi virasat ko "

(The Rathore Empire needs you)

I stopped.

Slowly, I turned around. She was still sitting in that chair.

Completely calm. And I definitely did not like this calmness.

"Par lalla tumhayi us kurshi ka ka?"

(But what about your chair?)

My brows furrowed. She was talking about my position as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh .
It had nothing to do with the Rathore family politics , me getting married or me having a child , even if I leave the Rathore Empire I have built enough to sustain , and no person in the Rathore family can snatch my chair from me then why this?

"Hann to uska kya?ye to na hi kahiyega humse ki aap humare MLA logon ko humare khilaf karne ka koshish karengi"

(What about it? Don't tell me you are gonna request to my MLA's to go against me)......she needs to be kidding me if she thinks she can take my chair

Dadi looked straight into my eyes.

"Nahii lalla..hum bhala kaahe jaye tumhaye mla antar pantaron ke paas..par tanik ek tho baat socho..kya hoyega jab hunm press me batayenge ki hum tumko RANA AGASTYA SINGH RATHORE uttar pradesh ke mukhyamantri ko apne hi parwaar se bedakhal kar diye hai"

(No Agastya obviously I won't go to your MLA's.. but just think about it once... What happens when we release it to the press that Rana Agastya Singh Rathore, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has been disowned by his own family?)

My hand slowly fell away from the door. I stopped. Completely. She can't do that it will tarnish my reputation publicly and can affect me in the upcoming elections.

Ye to wakai me mic drop kardi dadi tum

For the first time that night...I had nothing to say.

Because Dadi had finally played her masterstroke.

And she knew it.

She fucking knew that this was the one thing that could actually stop me.

The one thing that could make me listen.

And for the first time that night, I realised...

Dadi hadn't asked me to get married.
She had cornered me into it.

Lagta hai bahuriya ka shakal dekhe bina parlok jayengi nahi!!

Kaashi's POV

I stopped my car right in front of the office. I looked at the time.

9:47 A.M.

Great.Just fucking great.

I was late.Again.

Sometimes I wonder how a person can be late to work every single day. And how come my boss hasn't thrown me out of this media house ?

But then I remember I am The Kashi Raghuvanshi the best news reporter, no actually crime reporter alive

At this point, I had stopped considering it a bad habit and had officially started considering it a part of my personality.

I quickly got out of the car, grabbed my handbag from the passenger seat and looked towards the guard.

"Good morning bhaiyaa"

"Good morning, ma'am."

I threw my car keys towards him.

"Park it please. And please don't scratch it this time. I love you, but not enough to forgive that."

He was the sweetest person in the office after my assistant , these two were always there to cover me for my mistakes .

He laughed and nodded, catching the keys.

"Ji, ma'am."

I turned around and walked inside.

The moment I entered the office, the usual chaos greeted me. Phones ringing. People shouting across the newsroom. Printers doing their best impression of dying machines. Someone was running towards the editing room with a file in his hand, while someone else was already arguing over a headline.

I love my work .. and I guess every single person working in this media house loves to work under our boss Malini Chaturvedi..

She is one of the finest women on earth..not better than me obviously.. but she was good at her work.. that's why leaving all the top Media houses and choosing her was never a regret .

Basically... I can call this place Home. Not the peaceful kind. But ya it makes me happy and gives me peace . We had chaos here but the kind where everyone is either late, stressed, hungry or all three.

I had barely walked a few steps when my assistant came rushing towards me.

With that smile. That fucking smile. She smiled like she had just won the lottery every morning. I sometimes wondered if someone had told her that being miserable was illegal.

How does a person stay this happy twenty-four-seven?

Does she not have problems?

Boyfriend issues?

EMIs?

Family drama?

Nothing?

Ya brahmaa ji ka vardan lekar paida hui thi ye chuiiyha

She is the only person in this office who is always smiling.. always grinning like an idiot .. but she was a gem.. she has risked her life a numerous times to bring me proofs .. we can say she was best at her work that's why she is working with me from the past 4 years

But today her smile was not the usual childish idiotic smile it was something mischievous .

I looked at her suspiciously.

"Kyaa hai?"

(What's it?)

She smiled even wider. She is irritating as fuck

But I had to work with her so ya I'm just surviving this nonsense

"Ek second isse pehle tum apna radio chaalu karo ..naya kya hua hai?"

(Okay, before you say anything, what's new Shravni?)

She opened her mouth. But I was not ready to hear her now .. so I looked at my wrist watch and before she could reply I again asked ...

"Aur to do list par kya hai humari? kuch jaruri hai ki bas tumhare baalon me kitne jue hai wo ginne aaye hai? agar aisa kuch hai to hum ja rahe hai?"

(And what's on my to-do list? Because if you're here to tell me about another meeting that could've been an email, I'm walking right back out.)

She laughed. She is such a bitch she knows that I am irritated by her laughing all the time but she does it deliberately .

"Ma'am-"

I started walking again.

" my coffee?."

"Already ordered."

I stopped.

Looked at her. For the first time she did something I was actually happy about .. since morning

"You're my favourite person today."

"I know."

she has such a gold retriever vibe

"Don't get emotional. It can change."

She rolled her eyes.
Fuck you Bitch , she learned this from me

Even while rolling her eyes the smile on her face didn't disappear.

Instead, she suddenly looked at me with this weirdly excited expression.

"But ma'am..."

I raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

She pointed at me dramatically.

"You are a fucking mastermind."

I smiled immediately.

Obviously.

I knew that. I am a narcissist. I know I am the best and the smartest .

Lagta hai promotion paaye bina rukegi nahi aaj inki gaadi

"Thank you."

She blinked.

"Bas itna hi?

So what do you want my share of property from Mrs Raghuvanshi's power of attorney?

"Aur kya ab godi me bitha karke chumma de tumko?"

(What else do you want? A kiss?)

She laughed.

"I am serious!"

"So am I."

I adjusted my handbag on my shoulder. She would never praise me in the morning.. instead she would come and tell me that I did this wrong in this report... or I could have done this better that's her personality when it comes to work and that's why I like but

"Par beta ruko to..humari aaj itni tareef kaha se? kya software update karwayi ho apne 2g dimaag ko jo yaad aa gaya hai ki boss kaun hai tumhara?"

(But why are you suddenly praising my intelligence? Did you finally realise who your boss is?)

She shook her head.

"Aree nahi yaar maam...hum to kal ka baat kar rahe hai"

(No, ma'am. I'm talking about yesterday.)

My smile faded slightly. Something clicked.

"Yesterday?"

"The factory."

I stopped.

She looked at me.And then she said it.

"Wo jal gayi poori"

(It burned down.)

For a second, I just stared at her.

Then-

Oh.

My.

God.

A smile slowly spread across my face. I fucking knew this.
I saw this coming from a mile ago.

I smiled Not the polite one.

Not the good morning, nice to meet you one.

The kind that happens when life proves you right.

Aaaj subaah jiska bhi muh dekh kar uthe the usko do chummi denge ghar jakar...

"Dekhaa hum kahe the na betaa!!"

(I told you)

She nodded.

"Wahi to mam..aap kal hi boli thi ki aj factory ka antim sanskar ho jayega..aur ye dhamaka to kal raat hi ho gaya"

(You literally told me yesterday that it wouldn't survive till today.)

"I have excellent instincts."

Or maybe I just know that bastard better then anyone else

Kutte ke bachhe ne sabke dil par prince charming wali image bnayi hai par sach to mai hi janti hu princes aur mendhak wali kahani ka mendhak hai ye!!

"Aapka kuch to pichle janam ka miya bivi ka rishta hai humesha sahi hone se"

(You have a slightly concerning obsession with being right)

"Same thing."

She laughed.

I continued towards my cabin.

"So?"

"So?"

"What's the story?"

She followed me.

"Story kya ji..jala diye hai sab..poora factory raakh kar diye hai aur kuchu naahi"

(The whole factory is basically gone. Burnt to ashes.)

I stopped near my cabin.

"And the reason?"

I knew the lamest reason was coming

She shrugged.

"Short circuit."

I stared at her.

Then slowly looked towards the ceiling.

"Short circuit."

"Yes."

I looked back at her.

"An entire factory?"

"Apparently."

I gave her a look.

She gave me one right back.

We both knew how ridiculous that sounded.

If it was not related to him anybody would have believed that it was a short circuit...even me!

But I know the man behind it
I know his personality
I know his traits and I know ki ye aadmi kitna lukkha aur gira hua hai..

I walked inside my cabin and dropped my handbag on the chair.

"Okay."

I turned towards her.

"Achaa shravi ek tho baat btaiyee"

(But tell me something)

She waited.

"Aur tumhari chatak durdarshan ki buddhi ko wakai yakeen hai uspar?"

(Do you actually believe that story)

She would have definitely believed that if I would not have told her my Instinct yesterday .
She smiled.

"No."
Smart bitch

Nakalchi lomdi hai bas..

I leaned against my desk.

"Good."

There was no need to say anything else.

Because there was only one name sitting comfortably at the back of both our minds.

I tilted my head.

Wahi suar ki aulad kara hoga ye sab aur kisme hi dum hai

"Aur tumko pata hai na ye sab kaun kiya"

(But you know who did it, right?)

She didn't even take a second.
I wanted her to spell those words.. the name she has been defending for the past 4 years.. but I know no politician is ever completely clean

"Rana Saab."

I smiled.
It felt like a personal achievement to turn one of rana's andhbhakt against him.

"Ayee hayee ..jeeyo meri jaan..seekh rahi ho dheere dheere"

(You are improving darling."

I picked up my coffee.

One sip.
It was damn Perfect.

Shravi chahe kitni hi chudail ho par chai coffee ekdum tip top banati hai..
